KL Rahul:

He has captained the franchise well despite not taking to the playoffs, and there isn’t he could do more with the squad he has. He will be the first name to be retained by the franchise.

Mayank Agarwal:

Mayank Agarwal is an important batsman in the Punjab Kings batting lineup as he takes on the bowlers in the powerplay while Rahul gets his eye in. The opening combination has been the only limelight for the franchise that has worked continuously and both have been very destructive while understanding each other’s game too.

Agarwal played a 99 run unbeaten knock in the last game for Punjab and the talks over him being out of form somewhat vanished now. He is part of the Indian test squad for the World test championship and the England test tour and he should be the second player to be retained by the franchise as he can do wonders when he gets going.

Chris Gayle:

This is going to be a big call considering the age of the Big man from West Indies, Chris Gayle but he still has got all the stuff needed to deliver and can be very brutal with the bat. He played at the number three position for the Punjab Kings and it seems to have worked out well as he can take on the spinners straight away.

His ability to hit long balls against any pace attack is very crucial to the plans of Punjab and he is one of the stalwarts in T20 cricket still. If he opts to play two or more years in the years, then Punjab might look to retain him as the top three looks very strong with him coming in at three. The middle overs can be very productive if Gayle is around the crease at the time.
