Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) started their IPL 2021 campaign brilliantly with four wins in their first four games and they were unfortunate with the tournament being suspended midway. They had a lot of positives in the tournament — and if the mega auction takes place next year, they will need to build a different team with the core.

They retained young prospect Sarfaraz Khan to the surprise ahead of the previous mega auction alongside Virat Kohli — and AB de Villiers and there could be a surprise package this time too. They haven’t won an IPL so far and they will need the big guns again to get the team going forward.

Here are 3 players Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) might retain for IPL 2022.

3 Players Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) Might Retain:

Virat Kohli:

The only player to have played in all the editions of the IPL so far for the same franchise, Virat Kohli will certainly be the first player to be retained by the Royal Challengers Bangalore if the mega auction takes place. He has been captaining really well recently and is a game-changer with the bat.

The Indian skipper has the most number of runs in IPL history crossing the 6000-run mark recently and despite him not being in his prime best, the franchise did really well in IPL 2021. If he can get back into his groove, he will do wonders for the franchise and he has contributed immensely to the development of the team.

AB de Villiers:

AB de Villiers has retired from international cricket but has been batting really well still with his recent exploits for the Royal Challengers Bangalore franchise in the 2021 edition. He was brilliant while finishing games for RCB and won them two games on his own.

He has been a key player for the franchise over the years and never fails to contribute to the team’s success. He is one of the best fielders in the world but had to keep wicket for the balance of the team. He is a match-winner with the bat and plays all around the field. He is famously called the Mr.360 degree player for his exploits with the bat and will be an important part of RCB’s success.

Mohammed Siraj:

Mohammed Siraj is one of the promising bowlers in Indian cricket right now and Royal Challengers Bangalore will be looking to him as the future of the franchise. Siraj has been bowling really well this year and has been leading the pace attack among the Indian bowlers. He bowled an excellent final over which won the game over the Delhi franchise this edition.

Siraj can hit the 140kmph consistently and has bowled the tough overs for the franchise. Virat Kohli has backed him really well and it has paid off really well.

Besides, Chahal’s inconsistently and Sundar’s ineffectiveness in this edition has opened up the chances of Siraj being retained in the franchise. He was picked up in the Test squad for the England tour and the World Test Championship finals and he has deserved it.
