These numbers are extraordinary considering that he had one of the worst series of his career in 2014 against England when he was troubled by James Anderson.

Gundappa Viswanath was known as the man for artistry and he stands fourth in the list of Indian batsmen with the most runs against England in tests. The right-hander scored 1880 runs in 54 innings against England at an average of 37.60.

Gundappa Viswanath hit 4 centuries and 12 half-centuries against England in the longest format with his 222 in 1982 being one of his best knocks against the nation. He had an excellent career for India in tests overall and he always had the flair for his technique.

Gavaskar’s 221 in the Kennington Oval in 1979 will be one of his greatest innings of all time and he managed to draw the test which proved his greatness as a player. He stands second in the list of Indian batsmen with the most runs against England.

Sachin Tendulkar holds the record for scoring the most number of test runs against England from Indian batsmen and it is not a surprise that he makes the list. The master blaster enjoyed batting against the nation scoring 2535 runs in 53 innings at an average of 51.73.

Sachin hit 7 centuries and 13 half-centuries against England and his famous knock against England should be the 193 in Headingly in 2002 against a quality England bowling attack. The right-hander is regarded as one of the all-time greatest batsmen in cricket history.
