Surinder Amarnath:

Surinder Amarnath is the eldest son of Lala Amarnath who played 10 Tests and 3 ODI’s from the period of 1976 to 1978. He was part of the Indian tour to Pakistan in 1978 and scored 62 off 75 balls in the 3rd ODI game which happened to be his last for India.

Surinder Amarnath had some fantastic first-class numbers with 8185 runs in 145 first-class matches with a best of an unbeaten 235. He was an aggressive left-hander and was often portrayed as a “schoolboy prodigy”.

Rahul Dravid is known to be one of the greats of the game and despite him dominating the longer format, Dravid was more than a good batsman in ODI cricket. He scored 10889 runs in 344 ODI games along with his long test career and he played a lot of different roles for India from being a top-order batsman to being a finisher as well.

Dravid played his last ODI series in England in 2011 when he was picked up on the back of good performances in Tests. In the final ODI, Dravid scored a magnificent 69 off 79 balls with four boundaries but couldn’t sign off with a win as India lost the game by 6 wickets.

Syed Abid Ali was a cricketer who played in the 1970s era and he was one of the all-rounders who made significant contributions with the bat in longer formats. He played 29 tests and 5 ODIs for India in his short limited career and had a terrific first-class career as well covering up two decades.

His last ODI game was held in Manchester in the 1975 Prudential World cup against New Zealand and he scored a brilliant 70 off 98 balls in the middle order to take India to a decent score on the board. However, Glenn Turner’s century helped New Zealand win the game comfortably.

Gagan Khoda was one of the rare Indian cricketers who had a fantastic start to his international career but wasn’t picked up in the following series. He played just the two ODI games for India and his first-class numbers look decent as well.

The right-hander opened the inning alongside Sourav Ganguly in the last ODI he played and scored a fantastic 89 off 129 balls with 4 boundaries against Kenya in 1998. It is the second-highest score by an Indian cricketer in ODIs in his last game.

Ajay Jadeja was one of the most popular cricketers going around in the country, well known for his batting elegance and his fielding skill. He played a big role in the Indian ODI side in the 1990 to 2000 period and was unfortunate to have been banned five years for match-fixing issues.

Jadeja scored 93 off 103 balls in his last ODI for India playing against the arch-rivals Pakistan and he hit eight fours and four sixes in the innings. However, he couldn’t take India to victory and is currently serving as a commentator.
