The batsmen have to show a lot of patience and grit to get to their century in tests but sometimes the player could end up on the losing side which is really sad.

Joe Root:
The current England Test captain Joe Root, who is a prolific batsman has scored 20 test centuries so far in his career and all of them have come in either a win or a draw. The 30-year-old has been one of the premier batsmen for England especially in the test and ODI formats and England haven’t lost a test when he has scored a century.
Such has been his impact on the team and he has played 105 tests so far scoring 8714 runs at an average of 48.7. He is expected to become one of the greatest test batsmen from England when he finishes his career and he scored two double centuries back to back this year against Sri Lanka and India.
Wally Hammond:
Wally Hammond played 85 tests in a career span of 20 years and scored 7249 runs at an average of 58.45 which is phenomenal. His highest score was an unbeaten 336 and he had an excellent first-class career too for the Gloucestershire team.
Ian Bell:
Bell being a middle-order batsman played 118 tests and has scored 7728 runs at an average of 42.7. He was in and out of the test side after being inconsistent at times but he kept piling up runs in the domestic cricket which always brought him back in contention.
Geffrey Boycott:
Geoffrey Boycott played 108 tests scoring 8114 runs at an average of 47.72. The right-handed batsmen also had a great career in first-class cricket, and post-retirement, he has become one the most famous commentators in the world despite having some criticism around.
Graeme Smith:
Smith played 117 tests for his nation scoring 9265 runs at an average of 48.2. He formed a great partnership alongside Hednrshelle Gibbs and he is currently serving as the director of the South Africa Cricket Board.
