With the five-match T20 series well poised at 1-1, India will look to give a go to the young guns for the England ODI series who have shown a lot of character in recent times. Hence, the players who have underperformed in the last limited over series might not get the nod and we might see new faces getting their maiden opportunity.
Ishan Kishan’s debut innings in the second T20 was one such instance when the youngsters stepped up to the ranks. Also, India might consider resting few senior players for the ODI series who will be needed in a long run in all formats. India has a tight schedule ahead as the IPL gets underway once the limited-overs series against England gets over.
3 Indian Players Who Might Not Feature In The ODI Series:
Mayank Agarwal was unlucky to sit out on the home test series against England as India preferred the combination of Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma as the test openers for the entire series. He did get his chance in the Australian tour, but got off to poor starts and failed to get going which allowed the team management to try out Shubman Gill. Despite Mayank’s recent struggles, he averages 45 with the bat in tests with a double century already.
Mayank Agarwal was given an opportunity in the ODI series but failed most of the time and averages a mere 17 with the bat in his ODI career so far in 5 games. With a lot of competition going around for the opener slot and with Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, and KL Rahul in the proceedings, Mayank Agarwal will have to make a way in the England series. He will also have to face tough competition from Ishan Kishan, Prithvi Shaw, and Devdutt Padikkal.
