The Royal Challengers Bangalore had a stellar run at the start of the season but two players in their squad have left the tournament citing issues with the pandemic restrictions. Kane Richardson and Adam Zampa were touted to be important players for the RCB franchise even if they did not play enough games this season and it could be a big worry for the franchise.
RCB has the likes of Finn Allen and Daniel Christian still in the wings and they have roped in New Zealand pacer Scott Kuggeleijn too as a replacement. However, they will be looking to add some players to the squad from the mid-season transfer which could be handy for them. Harshal Patel is the leading wicket-taker in the tournament and he has performed brilliantly for RCB. Here are 3 stars that Royal Challengers Bangalore can target in the mid-season.
3 Players That Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) Can Target:
Ajinkya Rahane:
Ajinkya Rahane has been warming the bench for the most part of the season with Delhi opting to go for Steve Smith at three. His IPL numbers are phenomenal and he is too good a player to be warming the bench. RCB needs an experienced hand in the top order and if Rahane can open alongside Padikkal, then their batting looks deep and strong with Kohli to come in at three.
Rahane can play the anchor role while Padikkal can take on the bowling and they can provide the perfect platform for the likes of Maxwell, and AB Devillers to come. Royal Challengers Bangalore does not have any experienced Indian batters on the bench and Rajat Patidar hasn’t done much to impress the management. It is time for them to look at other options.
James Neesham:
Royal Challengers Bangalore has tried out Daniel Christian to bat at six, but it hasn’t worked for them so far and he seems to have done nothing to keep his place. Daniel Sams is more of an all-rounder at seven and they would be looking for someone who can bat at six. James Neesham has been sidelined in the Mumbai Indians squad and he could suit into the RCB squad.
Neesham is an excellent finisher at six and he can also provide his team with the bowling option. RCB does not have many left-handers except Padikkal in the top order and he could be an added advantage. Neesham was picked as a backup for Pollard and Mumbai will be looking to continue with the West Indian until he is injured.
Fabien Allen:
Allen can come in at seven and smack the ball while he can bowl some useful left-arm spin too. Royal Challengers Bangalore, have Yuzvendra Chahal as their lead spinner, but he hasn’t performed up to the expectation and with Adam Zampa gone, it is time for RCB to look at bringing in quality spin options. Fabien Allen can bowl in the powerplay as well in the middle overs.
