The Indian Premier League (IPL) has been kind to many players with instances of them winning the trophy more than twice while some haven’t tasted the success yet even once in the cash-rich league. Rohit Sharma has been the most successful captain in the Indian Premier League with five titles for Mumbai Indians under his belt and his franchise will be defending the trophy for the consecutive year.
Such has been the story of the franchise while the teams like Delhi Capitals, Punjab Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore haven’t won the coveted title yet. The players do produce a lot of effort to make it to the final stages and the nerves get the better of them at times. Here are 10 players who played in the Indian Premier League for 10 seasons but never won a trophy.

Virat Kohli
Virat Kohli is the only player in the IPL to be playing for the same franchise from the inaugural edition and such has been his performances over years for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Despite making it to three finals in 2009, 2011, and 2016 editions, RCB couldn’t win the trophy and Virat Kohli is desperate to get the hands-on IPL trophy for the last decade.
AB De Villiers
AB De Villiers and Virat Kohli have been two of the backbones for RCB over the years and Devilliers after being picked up by RCB in 2011 haven’t been released by the franchise yet. He played the first three seasons for the Delhi franchise which hasn’t won a trophy and Devilliers with all the talent he has, is very unlucky to have not won an IPL trophy yet.
Chris Gayle
Chris Gayle is one of the legends when it comes to T20 cricket and he is the highest run-scorer in T20 cricket all over the world. Gayle has been part of three franchises and he started with KKR in the first three seasons where he never won a trophy. He switched to RCB in 2011 and played for the franchise until 2017, in which he reached two finals. He is part of the Punjab franchise from 2018 to the present and hasn’t won an IPL trophy yet which is surprising.
Amit Mishra
Amit Mishra is the second-highest wicket-taker in IPL overall and it has been a big surprise that he hasn’t won an IPL trophy yet despite featuring every year from the inaugural edition where he played for the Delhi side. He then moved to Deccan Chargers in 2011 and 2012, then to Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2013 and 2014 and from the 2015 edition he has been with the Delhi side again and his franchise is yet to win an IPL yet.
Ajinkya Rahane
Ajinkya Rahane is one of the most consistent performers in IPL over the years and he has tremendous numbers in the tournament. He has fallen off the radar now but still is a very good player at the top in the T20s. He started his IPL career with Mumbai Indians in 2008 and 2009 and then moved to the Rajasthan Royals in 2011 where he played for seven years with two years in between for the now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiants. He was traded to Delhi in IPL 2020 where he made the finals but still couldn’t win the trophy.
Ashoke Dinda
The veteran bowler Ashoke Dinda played for five franchises in his IPL career including Kolkata Knight Riders from 2008 to 2010, 2011 for the Delhi Daredevils, 2012 and 2013 for the Pune Warriors, 2014 and 2015 for RCB, and 2016 and 2017 for the Rising Pune Supergiants. He was one of the exciting pacers to watch in Indian cricket and always had a lot of pace in his armory. He went on to play for India but never won an IPL trophy.
Mandeep Singh
Mandeep Singh started his IPL career in 2010 for the Kolkata Knight Riders and then switched to the Kings XI Punjab from 2011 to 2014 where he excelled at occasions and showed a lot of promise. He then played for the RCB franchise from 2015 to 2018 and then returned to his native side Punjab again where he has been on the bench. He is yet to win an IPL trophy despite featuring in the tournament for more than 10 years.
Stuart Binny
Stuart Binny played in the 2010 edition for the Mumbai Indians and then switched to Rajasthan Royals where he played from 2011 to 2015. He then moved to RCB in 2016 and 2017 but returned to the Royals franchise in 2018 and 2019. He is not in the mix at the present but is one of the better all-rounders from India with big-hitting abilities. He hasn’t won an IPL trophy in the 10 years he played in IPL.
Ishant Sharma
Ishant Sharma is one of the leading pacers in India with a wealth of experience and he hasn’t won an IPL trophy yet. He played for the KKR from 2008 to 2010, then for Deccan Chargers in 2011 and 2012, for the Sunrisers from 2013 to 2015, then for Rising Pune Supergiants in 2016, Kings XI Punjab in 2017, and then moved to Delhi from 2019 until now. He played in only one final in the 2020 edition for the Delhi Capitals.
Dale Steyn
One of the best pacers in IPL history, Dale Steyn played for various franchises in his career. He started with RCB in 2008 until 2010 and then again played for them in 2019 and 2020. He played for the Deccan Chargers in 2012 and 2013, and for the Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2014 and 2015. He played one season for Gujarat Lions in 2016 but he has never won an IPL trophy despite reaching the finals on one occasion for RCB in 2009.
