Moreover, the minimum amount one player earns from a tournament is Rs. 20 lakh.

After 14 editions of the Indian Premier League, many players have earned a lot of money from the tournament. The top 10 earners from the Indian Premier League consist of some Indian and overseas players. Most of them are the ones who have played the tournament since the start. 10. Shane Watson

Shane Watson has bid goodbye to the Indian Premier League but his name still appears in the list among the highest earners of the tournament. The Australian all-rounder has earned more than Rs. 77 crores (Rs. 77,13,48,250) from Indian Premier League. He is the 10th highest earner. Watson has played in the tournament since the first season in 2008.

From 2008 to 2015, he was part of Rajasthan Royals. In IPL 2016 and 2017, Watson was part of Royal Challengers Bangalore. From 2018 to  2020, he was part of the Chennai Super Kings. In 145 matches, he scored 3874 runs and scalped 92 wickets. Shane Watson won the titles in 2008 with Rajasthan Royals and in 2018 with Chennai Super Kings.

9. Robin Uthappa

Robin Uthappa is the 9th highest earner in the Indian Premier League. The wicket-keeper batsman has earned more than Rs. 78 crores (Rs. 78,27,67,000) from Indian Premier League. Uthappa has been part of the league since the first season in 2008 and has played in every tournament. In 2021, he was part of the Chennai Super Kings but did not play any game before the tournament got suspended.

Right-handed batsman Uthappa has played for many teams. In 2008, he was part of Mumbai Indians. He played for Royal Challengers Bangalore from 2009 to 2010. From IPL 2011 to 2013, Uthappa played for Pune Warriors India. From 2014 to 2019, Uthappa was part of the Kolkata Knight Riders. He moved to Rajasthan Royals in 2020 and was traded to Chennai Super Kings ahead of 2021. In 189 matches in the tournament, Robin Uthappa has scored 4607 runs.

8. Yuvraj Singh

Former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh is the 8th highest earner in the Indian Premier League. From it, Yuvraj Singh has earned more than Rs. 84 crores (Rs. 84,60,50,000). All-rounder Yuvraj Singh played his last IPL in 2019. In 132 matches in the Indian Premier League, he scored 2750 runs and picked 36 wickets.

Yuvraj Singh played for Kings XI Punjab from IPL 2008 to 2010. Later, he was part of Pune Warriors India from IPL 2011 to 2013. Yuvraj moved to Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2014 and Delhi Daredevils in 2015. In 2016 and 2017, Yuvraj played for Sunrisers Hyderabad. He again moved to Kings XI Punjab in IPL 2018. He last played for Mumbai Indians in 2019.

Former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir is the 7th highest earner in the Indian Premier League. Gambhir earned more than Rs. 94 crores (Rs. 94,62,00,000) from IPL. Gambhir retired from all forms of cricket in 2018. Gambhir is still among the top 10 highest run-scorers in IPL. The left-handed batsman has 4217 runs in 154 matches and is the 10th highest run-scorer in the league.

Gambhir played for Delhi Daredevils from IPL 2008 to 2010. He later played for Kolkata Knight Riders from 2011 to 2017. He played his last season in 2018 for Delhi Daredevils. As the captain of Kolkata Knight Riders, Gambhir led the team to win titles in 2012 and 2014.

West Indies all-rounder Sunil Narine is the 6th highest earner in the Indian Premier League. The spinner has earned more than Rs. 95 crores (Rs. 95,24,78,000) from Indian Premier League. Narine is a left-handed batsman and a right-arm bowler. All of Sunil Narine’s IPL earnings have come from only one franchise.

Since his debut in  2012, Narine has played for Kolkata Knight Riders. Due to his deadly spin bowling and ability to hit big shots while batting, the franchise has retained him over the years. In 124 matches in the Indian Premier League so far, Narine has scalped 130 wickets. He has also scored 902 runs. Narine won the title in 2012 and 2014 with KKR.

South African southpaw AB de Villiers is the 5th highest earner in the Indian Premier League. De Villiers has earned more than Rs. 102 crores (Rs. 102,51,65,000) from Indian Premier League. Ab de Villiers is part of the league since its debut edition in 2008 and played in every season of the tournament.

From IPL 2008 to 2010, de Villiers was part of Delhi Daredevils. Since 2011, the wicketkeeper-batsman has played for Royal Challengers Bangalore. Along with Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers is like a poster boy for the RCB franchise. In 176 matches, the right-handed batsman has scored 5056 runs at an average of 40+. He has also smashed 3 centuries and 40 half-centuries in the tournament. Villiers is also the 6th highest run-scorer in the league so far.

4. Suresh Raina

Suresh Raina is the 4th highest earner in the Indian Premier League. Raina has earned more than Rs. 110 crores (Rs. 110,74,00,000). Raina is a left-arm batsman and a part-time spinner. Since IPL 2008, Suresh Raina has played for Chennai Super Kings and is one of the core members of the franchise since the start of the Indian Premier League.

Raina has played in every season of the Indian Premier League except IPL 2020, in which he opted out due to personal reasons. In 200 matches, Raina has scored 5491 runs. He has also hit 39 half-centuries and 1 century. He has also picked up 25 wickets. He is also the 3rd highest run-scorer in the tournament.

Virat Kohli is the 3rd highest earner in IPL. The Indian cricketer has earned more than Rs. 143 crores (Rs. 143,20,00,000) from Indian Premier League. Virat Kohli has been part of the tournament since the first edition in 2008 and played in every season of the tournament.

Since 2008, Kohli has played for only one team Royal Challengers Bangalore. The franchise has retained him over the years and he is the skipper of the team since 2013. However, RCB is yet to win a title. Virat Kohli has played 199 matches and scored 6076 runs. This includes 40 half-centuries and 5 centuries. Kohli is the highest run-scorer in the Indian Premier League and the only player to cross 6000 runs.

Rohit Sharma is the 2nd highest earner in the Indian Premier League. The Mumbai Indians skipper has earned more than Rs. 146 crores (Rs. 146,60,00,000) from Indian Premier League. Rohit Sharma is the most successful captain in the tournament as under his leadership, Mumbai Indians have won 5 titles.

Rohit Sharma was part of Deccan Charges from IPL 2008 to 2010. Later, he moved to Mumbai Indians in 2011. In 2013, he was nominated as the skipper of Mumbai Indians. The franchise won the title in that edition and Rohit Sharma has led the team in every season ever since. Rohit Sharma has scored 5480 runs in 207 matches which consists of 1 century and 40 centuries. He is also the 4th highest run-scorer in the tournament.

MS Dhoni is the highest earner in the Indian Premier League. He has earned more than Rs. 152 crores (Rs. 152,84,00,000). MS Dhoni has been the skipper of Chennai Super Kings since the first edition in 2008. He has been the face of Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League.

MS Dhoni has played for Chennai Super Kings since the start but played for Rising Pune Supergiants in 2016 and 2017 as CSK was banned for two seasons. In 211 matches, MS Dhoni has scored 4669 runs. He has also smashed 23 half-centuries and is the 8th highest run-scorer. MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings to three titles in 2010, 2011, and 2018.
