Watch: England Finally Dismiss Ajinkya Rahane Following A Shocking DRS Blunder By The 3rd Umpire

Indian vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane was finally dismissed for a well complied 149-ball 67 in the evening session of the first day, bringing an end to a maniac passage of play in the lead-up to the eventual dismissal.
Rahane should have been dismissed by Jack Leach in the preceding over before Moeen Ali knocked him over but for a horrible misjudgment by the third umpire.
It all happened when Jack Leach got one to spin past Rahane’s bat and pad to short leg. England reviewed immediately after the on-field umpire adjudged it not out.
The RTS showed a flat line as the ball passed Rahane’s bat and the 3rd umpire was quick to adjudge him not-out without realizing that there was a significant spike as the ball went past his gloves.
Nevertheless, Moeen Ali ensured that the blunder by the third umpire did not cost England as he knocked over Ajinkya Rahane in the very next over.
That said, it was a brilliant knock by Ajinkya Rahane given the circumstances it came under, the nature of the pitch, and the fact that he had come into this game following back-to-back failures in the first Test.
He was initially troubled by the leg-field ploy employed by Olly Stone but once he settled into a rhythm, the Indian vice-captain played some cracking strokes against both pace and spin.
The way he used the crease against the likes of Moeen Ali and Jack Leach was a proper throwback to the old school of Indian batsmanship against spinners on a raging turner.
Rahane’s 162-run stand with Rohit Sharma (161) for the 4th wicket has helped India take a position of strength despite the fact that they lost a few wickets at the backend of the final session.
