Virat Kohli IPL Records
Published - 10 Sep 2024, 02:41 PM
Virat Kohli plays for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He joined the franchise as a rookie in 2008 and has been playing for the same time since then. No other player has represented one franchise for so long in the history of the IPL.
While MS Dhoni is also playing for Chennai Super Kings from the very first season of the IPL, he had to play two seasons for now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiant when the Chennai-based outfit was suspended on corruption charges.
Kohli did struggle to make a big impact in the IPL in the early years. In the first season in 2008, he scored a modest 165 runs in 12 innings at an average of 15.00 and a strike rate of 105.09.
In the following season, there was some improvement as he scored 246 runs. Kohli finally enjoyed a breakthrough season in 2010 when he scored 307 runs and has not looked back since then.
He has touched the 300-run mark in each season since 2010. In 2016, he enjoyed a remarkable season with the bat.
The right-handed batsman became the first-ever batsman to touch the 900-run mark in the season as he scored 973 runs with the help of four centuries. Many believe that it is an unbeatable IPL record of Virat Kohli.
No other player has scored more runs or centuries than him in one season of the IPL as well as all the seasons combined.
Kohli also led RCB from 2013 to 2021. Under his captaincy, RCB qualified for the final once in 2016. Here we are taking a look at some of Virat Kohli's IPL records.
