The Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) Tours and Fixtures Committee has suggested the board to hold the three ODIs and the three T20Is against West Indies across two venues – Kolkata and Ahmedabad.

The venues for the West Indies tour haven’t been finalised yet. The tour, which will be completed in two weeks (February 6-20), was expected to be played at six different grounds (Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Cuttack, Visakhapatnam, and Thiruvananthapuram).

However, with the rise in Covid-19 cases across the country, it becomes infeasible to have the players move from city to city. Therefore, the BCCI has now begun considering having the matches be played in just two cities.

CWI to oblige change in venues as per BCCI’s wish

The Cricket West Indies (CWI) board has confirmed that they will be happy to accept any changes in the venue as long as the strict protocols are followed and the players’ safety is considered as the priority.

A request for such a change has not reached to me as yet. But we accept such operational actions by local boards in the interest of what is best for implementing health protocols,” CWI chief Ricky Skerritt told Cricbuzz.

The Windies team is scheduled to arrive in Ahmedabad on February 1 following which they will undergo a 3-day isolation period. They can have practice sessions in the next two days before the matches begin.
