IND vs WI: India’s Predicted Playing XI For The 1st T20I

India and West Indies will lock horns in an ODI and T20I series. The IND vs WI ODI and T20I series will witness three games each. The ODI series will be played first followed by the T20I series. The 1st T20I clash will take place on February 16 at Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata.

BCCI has named an 18-member squad for the IND vs WI T20I series. The team will be led by Rohit Sharma. There are many young and experienced Indian players part of the squad. Here we take a glance at India’s predicted playing XI in the 1st T20I against West Indies.

IND vs WI: India’s Predicted Playing XI For The 1st T20I

Rohit Sharma (C)

Rohit Sharma is the skipper of the team in IND vs WI T20I series and will lead the team in the 1st T20I. The right-handed batsman was not part of the previous IND vs SA ODI series, where India faced a humiliating whitewash. Rohit Sharma will be the opener for India in the 1st game against West Indies.

KL Rahul

KL Rahul will be another opener for the team in IND vs WI 1st T20I. In the absence of Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul is the best man to open the innings with Sharma. He slammed a half-century during IND vs SA ODI series. He will seek to come up with good knocks against West Indies.

Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli will be the no.3 batsman for the team in IND vs WI 1st T20I. The right-handed batsman was in good form during the previous IND vs SA ODI series. He slammed 2 half-centuries in three games. Kohli will look to replicate his good performances in the T20I series against West Indies.

Rishabh Pant (WK)

Rishabh Pant will be the wicketkeeper for India in IND vs WI 1st T20I. Pant played a fabulous knock of 85 runs in an ODI against South Africa recently. He also slammed a century in one Test encounter. Hence, the left-handed batsman is in good batting form and will aim to continue with the same form against West Indies.

Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar Yadav will be another player that India might pick in IND vs WI 1st T20I. Yadav got a chance to play in IND vs SA 3rd ODI, where he played a good knock of 39 runs. Yadav will be a good player in the middle-order for India.

Shreyas Iyer

Shreyas Iyer largely failed to come up with a good show in IND vs SA ODI series recently. He did not manage to score a big knock in any of the three ODIs he played. Hence, he will look to justify his place in the middle-order during the IND vs WI T20I series.

Axar Patel

Axar Patel might be picked as an all-rounder in IND vs WI 1st T20I. In the absence of Ravindra Jadeja, Patel will be a good choice of an all-rounder as he also bowls left-arm spin. India is more likely to go ahead with a spin all-rounder instead of a seam one due to spin-friendly Indian grounds.

Deepak Chahar

Deepak Chahar will be picked as a pacer in the team. India does not have crucial pacers like Jasprit Bumrah or Mohammed Shami in the squad. Hence, Deepak Chahar is highly likely to be part of the playing XI. Chahar has impressed with his performances in recent times.

Shardul Thakur

Shardul Thakur will be another pacer that the team might pick in IND vs WI 1st T20I. Thakur gave a good performance with the bat in IND vs SA ODI series. He was a little ineffective with the ball, however, will look to prove his bowling skills against West Indies.

Harshal Patel

Harshal Patel might also get a chance in the playing XI during IND vs WI 1st T20I. With Bhuvneshwar Kumar struggling with his form, the team might give a chance to Patel. The right-arm pacer executed a good performance during his debut against New Zealand in November last year. He played 2 games and picked 4 wickets.

Yuzvendra Chahal

Yuzvendra Chahal might be the spinner for India in IND vs WI 1st T20I. Chahal was part of the IND vs SA ODI series as well. The right-arm spinner could not grab many wickets in South Africa. However, against West Indies on spin-friendly Indian ground, Chahal is expected to be more successful with his spin attack.
