Young Indian opening batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad failed to perform well in the third and final T20 International match of the three-match T20 International series against the West Indies National Cricket Team on Sunday, February 20 at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata.

Captain Rohit Sharma gave the opportunity to the youngsters, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ishan Kishan, to open the innings in the dead rubber encounter against the West Indies.

Both the openers started off slow, scoring 5 runs in the first over, which was bowled by Jason Holder and 4 runs in the second over, which was bowled by Romario Shepherd.

Meanwhile, Gaikwad got out in the 3rd ball of the third over. West Indies all-rounder Holder bowled an outswinger and Gaikwad closed the face of his bat too early, which resulted in a big leading-edge and the ball was caught by third man Kyle Mayers. Ruturaj Gaikwad was able to score just 4 runs off 8 balls, including one four, in his comeback game.

Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer came out to bat at no.3 instead of Rohit Sharma and at the time of writing Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer are batting brilliantly and India are at 58/1.

India And West Indies Make 4 Changes Each In The Third And Final T20I

Earlier, West Indies won the toss and invited Rohit Sharma and co. to bat first in Kolkata. India made four big changes to the playing XI in the third T20I as Shreyas Iyer, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shardul Thakur and Avesh Khan replaced Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant, Yuzvendra Chahal and Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the team.

West Indies National Cricket Team also made 4 changes to the team as Hayden Walsh, Fabian Allen, Dominic Drakes and Shai Hope were added to the playing XI.
