West Indies would be disappointed with how they performed in the ODI series against India. They were blanked 3-0 against a strong Indian team. Nevertheless, they would look to forget that and bounce back strongly in the T20 series. The first match of the series is scheduled to be played on Wednesday at Eden Gardens. Here’s a look at our predicted playing XI of the West Indies Cricket Team for the first T20 international.
IND vs WI: West Indies’ Predicted Playing XI Against India- India vs West Indies 2022, 1st T20I
Openers: Brandon King and Kyle Mayers
Both did reasonably well in the last T20 international series against England. Brandon King scored 122 runs in 5 matches at 30.50, while Kyle Mayers made 71 in 2 games at 35.50. It is more than likely that the duo would open in the first T20I on Wednesday.
Middle-Order: Kieron Pollard, Rovman Powell, Jason Holder, Fabien Allen, Odean Smith
The presence of numerous all-rounders adds depth to the batting unit. As many as five all-rounders, namely, Kieron Pollard, Rovman Powell, Jason Holder, Fabien Allen, Odean Smith are likely to make it into the playing XI. All five are known for their power-hitting ability and it will be interesting to see how they fare in the upcoming series.
Bowlers: Akeal Hosein and Sheldon Cottrell
Rising star, Akeal Hosein should lead the spin department and, thus, will be part of the playing XI. Besides, Sheldon Cottrell is likely to lead the fast bowling department. He should complete the playing XI of the West Indies Cricket Team.
