Yuvraj Singh is an Indian cricketer who played for Team India in all three formats of international cricket. In domestic cricket, he represented Punjab.

In the Indian Premier League, Yuvraj played for Punjab Kings, Pune Warriors India, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Delhi Capitals, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians.

Yograj Singh's cricket career:

Yograj Singh, Yuvraj Singh's father, was a professional cricketer too and represented India in international cricket. In domestic cricket, Yograj plied his trade for Punjab and Haryana. He was a right-arm medium pacer.

Unlike his son, Yograj did not enjoy a successful career in international cricket. He could play only one Test and six ODIs for Team India. In 1980, he was picked in the Indian team for the tour of Australia and New Zealand.

On December 21, 1980, Yograj made his debut for Team India during the Brisbane ODI against New Zealand. He picked up 2 wickets for 44 runs on his debut. Later in February 2021, he made his Test debut against New Zealand and picked up 1 wicket in that game as India lost the Test.

He bowled only in the first innings and dismissed John Wright to pick his first and only Test wicket. In ODIs, he picked up 4 wickets in 5 innings. In first-class cricket, Yograj claimed 66 wickets from 30 games.

Life After Cricket:

Yograj Singh's career was plagued by injuries. After waving goodbye to his playing career, he entered the world of films. Yograj has appeared in several Punjabi films as well as Bollywood movies such as Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Singh is Bling, and Teen Thay Bhai.

In 2009, he also tried his hands in politics and contested from the Panchkula constituency on the Indian National Lok Dal ticket in Haryana. He received 16932 votes but failed to win.

Yograj Singh wife:

Yograj Singh was married to Shabnam Singh but they divorced later. They became parents to two sons - Yuvraj and Zoravar. Later, Yograj married Meena. From his second marriage, he has two children - a son (Victor) and a daughter (Amarjot Kaur).

Yograj Singh controversies:

Now and then, Yograj Singh finds himself in a controversy because of his controversial as well as distasteful comments. Time and again, he has publicly attacked former India captain MS Dhoni. Yograj blamed Dhoni for Yuvraj's non-selection in the Indian team for the 2015 World Cup.

He also said that Yuvraj should have become India's captain and not Dhoni. In one interview, Yograj went as far as saying that he would slap Dhoni if he ever came face to face-with him.

In 2014, Yuvraj Singh’s father was also arrested by Haryana Police in connection with an alleged dispute over car parking in Panchkula. He had also made a highly distasteful comment, targeting the women of the Hindu community while delivering a speech during the 2020 farmers protest.
