The milestones achieved by Sachin have made India proud. Cricketers from the current lot idolize him for his achievements and try to emulate or come close to the records he has created.

But it took him 24 long years to achieve this status in the country. However, the number 24 holds an incredible significance in the ‘Little-Masters’ career.

Sachin was born on 24th April 1973 and became the first male cricketer in the world to score 200 in a One-day international innings in 2010.

He scored an unbeaten 200 in 147 balls, which included 25 fours and three sixes. This was also the highest individual score in the history of limited overs cricket.

Sachin broke Saeed Anwar and Charles Coventry’s record of 194 runs, which they held jointly in the 50-over cricket.

Teammate Virender Sehwag later broke Sachin’s record in 2011 against the West Indies. However, since then there have been many other cricketers who have achieved this incredible feat of scoring a double century in ODI’s.

Another instance of the number 24’s significance in the Sachin’s cricketing career is that 30 years ago on February 24, 1988, Sachin and Vinod Kambli etched their names in the record books with a 664-run partnership in school cricket.

Sachin and Kambli were involved in a marathon partnership with individual scores of 326 not out, and 349 not out respectively for Shardashram Vidyamandir against St Xavier’s High School, Fort, in the Harris Shield semi-final played at Sassanian ground at Azad Maidan.

Eight years after scoring the first ever double century, Sachin realized that number 24 holds significant importance in his career.

Replying to a post, he came across on Twitter which read:

“24 has always been God’s lucky number. He was born on 24. 30 years back this day, He stitched together 664 with @vinodkambli349 . 8 years back this day, He scored the DIVINE 200. Thanks @sachin_rt ,for all the incredible memories.”

Sachin said:

“Didn’t realise it until now but the 24th is a lucky date for me. Those memories will forever be etched in my heart.”
