England registered a sensational two runs victory against New Zealand in the sixth match of the T20I Tri-series also featuring Australia.

Fortunes fluctuated from one side to the other, but in the end, it was England who held their nerves and earned a thrilling victory. Southpaw David Malan continued his great work and became the first batsman in the history to smash four T20I half-centuries in his first five matches.

Skipper Eoin Morgan also played a terrific innings of 180 which helped England reach 194/7 in 20 overs.

It was New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson who won the toss and put England in. Jason Roy got off to a flyer but his partner Alex Hales was dismissed pretty cheaply, Roy couldn’t carry on either and gave away his wicket on 21. It was Dawid Malan, and Morgan who shared 93 runs stand between them.

Morgan, in particular, was looking in sublime touch. The southpaw took the Australian bowlers to the cleaners. He remained unbeaten on 80 off 46 deliveries which included four fours and six sixes. Malan, on the other hand, was dismissed by Grandhomme on 54 off 36 deliveries.

The southpaw struck a couple of fours and five sixes in the process. Eventually, England ended on 194/7 in their allotted 20 overs.

The Black Caps openers Martin Guptill and Colin Munro yet again got them off to a flyer. Guptill has looked in ominous touch, and Munro was no different. The duo shared a partnership of 78 runs which came in just 38 deliveries before Munro’s dismissal.

Mark Chapman also played a crucial hand in the middle. His innings of 37 off 30 deliveries contained a couple of fours and sixes each. It was Dawid Malan who dismissed Guptill for 62 runs. Munro, on the other hand, raced his way off to 57 off 21 balls before his dismissal.

Eventually, it was some tight bowling by the English bowlers during the last stages of the match which eventually handed them a slender a two runs victory. However, this was their first victory in the series, and the final of the Trans-Tasman series will be played between New Zealand and Australia.
