New Zealand banked on an all-round performance from their cricketers to beat England by 12 runs.

Batting first, New Zealand posted 195 runs on the board. They handed Mark Chapman and Tim Seifert the debut cap. In addition, Chapman earlier represented Hong Kong, while Seifert, a wicket-keeper batsman replaced Tom Blundell.

New Zealand batters shine:

Martin Guptill and Kane Williamson built a great partnership since they lost the early wicket of Colin Munro in the fifth over. Since then, the duo dominated the England bowlers, as they played with great authority.

Also, Guptill scored 65 runs off 40 balls including six fours and three sixes. While Williamson played a magical knock of 72 runs off just 46 balls.

However, some quick runs down the order from the debutant helped the Kiwis post 195 runs on the board. Also, England bowlers went for plenty with Adil Rashid and Mark Wood returning with two scalps each.

The Run Chase:

Meanwhile, England’s run chase got a major blow when Ish Sodhi removed Alex Hales (47), as England strived at 79 for two in the 9th overs.

However, since then, England’s middle-order crumbled, as Trent Boult, Sodhi, and Mitchell Santner proved critical for the host. Also, they bagged two wickets each. Southpaw Dawid Malan (59) tried to take his team home but ran out of partners at England managed 184 from their quota of 20 overs.
