Adelaide Strikers is a Big Bash League (BBL) cricket franchise based in Adelaide, South Australia. They play their home games at the Adelaide Oval. The franchise was formed in 2011, succeeding the Southern Redbacks who played in the now-defunct KFC T20 Big Bash.
Over the years, some of the biggest names in the modern-day game such as Kieron Pollard, Rashid Khan, Chris Jordan, Travis Head, Colin Ingram, Chris Lynn, Mahela Jayawardene, Peter Siddle, Adil Rashid, and Kane Richardson have plied their trades for Adelaide Strikers. They have won the BBL just once so far.
Adelaide Strikers' journey in BBL:
Adelaide Strikers failed to start their journey in the BBL on a promising note. In the first three seasons of the BBL, they failed to qualify for the finals. They finally managed to progress ahead of the league stage in the 2014-15 season but could not make it to the final.
In 2015-16 too, their campaign ended at the semifinal stage before they exited at the league stage in the following season. In the 2017-18 season, the Adelaide-based outfit finally managed to go all the way and won the title for the first time in their history.
In the following season, the Adelaide Strikers failed to advance to the finals. It was followed by defeats in the Knockout, Eliminator, and the Challengers in the following three seasons. In the 2022-23 season, Adelaide Strikers could not make it past the league stage.
