Defending a below-par total of 215 runs, Afghanistan managed to pick the first six wickets of Bangladesh for just 45 runs in the second innings.  Despite that, they went on to lose the game by 4 wickets, courtesy of a sensational 174-run partnership for the seventh wicket between Afif Hussain and Mehidy Hasan.

Afghanistan would look to forget the memories of that defeat and focus on the next game on Friday. Here’s a look at our predicted playing XI of the Afghanistan Cricket Team for the second One-Day International.

BAN vs AFG: Bangladesh’s Predicted Playing XI Against Afghanistan– Bangladesh vs Afghanistan, 2nd ODI

Openers: Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran

There is no denying that Rahmanullah Gurbaz is a rising star in Afghanistan’s team. He has played just 7 ODIs and managed to score 315 runs at 45.00. Gurbaz had a forgettable day in the last game but you expect him to make a strong comeback. His partner, Ibrahim Zadran (19 off 23) got a pretty good start but, unfortunately, got out a crucial stage in the game.

Middle-Order: Rahmat, Shahidi and Najibullah

Both Rahmat (34 off 69) and Shahidi (28 off 43) got starts but couldn’t convert those. If Afghanistan want to win the next game, they need to play big knocks with the bat. Najibullah starred with the bat in the last game, scoring 67 runs off 84 balls. The fans would hope that he replicates a similar performance on Friday as well.

All-rounders: Nabi, Gulbadin, and Rashid Khan

The presence of these three players add a lot of depth in the batting unit and also provide options with the ball. Nabi (0 for 32) and Rashid Khan (1 for 30) bowled well but couldn’t pick wickets. Gulbadin, on the other hand, conceded 25 runs in 3.5 overs without a wicket to his name. The trio certainly has got the potential to do a lot better than that.

Bowlers: Ahmadzai, Fazalhaq Farooqi and Mujeeb

Fazalhaq Farooqi left Bangladesh’s batting unit stunned with his sensational fast bowling display in the last game. He picked four out of the first five wickets and finished his spell with 4 for 54 in 10 overs. It will be exciting to too see his opening spell in the next game on Friday. Besides, the likes of Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Yamin Ahmadzai should complete the playing XI.
