Asia Cup 2018: Twitter Trolls Shardul Thakur for Poor Outing Against Hong Kong
Updated - 19 Sep 2018, 06:01 PM
So, what do you call the match between India and Hong Kong? A strong determination from young Hong Kong or India took the opposition for granted in their Asia Cup 2018 opener? Perhaps, both. It was initially expected that the game against Hong Kong is the best chance for youngsters but Shardul Thakur, who is waiting in the wings for a long time lost, certainly lost his plot at Dubai.
The Mumbai-based fast bowler was expected to excel against the inexperienced Hong Kong batsmen. However, in return, Hong Kong batsman took Thakur to the cleaners.
Meanwhile, the Twitter world isn’t happy with the performance from the youngster.
Shardul Thakur conceded 41 runs off four overs:
Initially, it has been Men in Red, who won the toss and asked Indians to bat first. Both the openers started the things well for India but the Indian skipper, Rohit Sharma lost his concentration in the middle to walk back to the hut.
Meanwhile, hitting the form ahead of the crunch game, Shikhar Dhawan knocked the ball like a dream to register a scintillating century. The comeback man Ambati Rayudu also announced himself by scoring a good 60-run knock.
However, India failed to carry on with the momentum as they fared pretty poorly in the final overs to see themselves on the back foot. At one stage, they looked like scoring over 350. But eventually ended up with 286 runs on the board.
In reply, the Hong Kong openers Nizakat Khan and the skipper Anshuman Rath batted splendidly well to send the shivers down the spine for Indians. After a stunning 174-run partnership, Kuldeep Yadav finally provided the much-needed breakthrough.
Then, it was all about the debutant Khaleel Ahmed, who bowled exceptionally to rattle the defence of Hong Kong batsmen. In the end, it was the experienced side who overhauled the inexperienced side.

Very disappointing display of Team India against a monows like Hobgkong. Will big mouth coach ntsam management explain why Shardul Thakur included in team who has given 41 runs in 4 over. Unless Team India recovered quickly cannot cope up against Pakistan.
