Remember the ‘Maaro mujhe maaro’ fame Pakistani fan Momin Saqib? Well, he is back once again with his comments after yet another India vs Pakistan clash. And this time, he focused on Arshdeep Singh as he gave his reaction to the thrilling Asia Cup clash between the arch-rivals.
Pakistan beat India by 5 wickets to start the Super 4 stage with a win. The game went right down to the wire as the Men in Green clinched the match with just one ball remaining. Fortunes swung from one side to another but in end, Pakistan managed to hold on to their nerves better.
Invited to bat first, India were off to a solid start as Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul fired on all cylinders. By the time the powerplay ended, India had raced away to 62 for 1. In the end, the Men in Blue finished their innings on 181 for 7. Former captain Virat Kohli top-scored for India with 60 while both Rohit and Rahul scored 28 each.
In reply, Pakistan lost their skipper Babar Azam cheaply but they did not let it hamper the chase. Mohammad Rizwan played a fine knock, scoring 71 while Mohammad Nawaz’s 20-ball 42 runs cameo put Pakistan in the driver’s seat. In the end, Asif Ali and Khushdil Shah scored the 26 runs required in the last two overs to power their team to a memorable win.
Momin Saqib on Arshdeep Singh:
Arshdeep Singh has become the talk of the town after dropping Asif Ali at a crucial juncture of the game. In the 18th over of the chase, Ali had top-edged a delivery from Ravi Bishnoi towards short third-man where Arshdeep Singh was fielding. It was an easy catch but the left-arm pacer made a mess of it and dropped it.
Ali went on to hit 1 six and 2 fours after that and played a crucial role in deciding the outcome of the match. Unsurprisingly, Arshdeep has been facing severe criticism from several quarters as several netizens are blaming him for the loss. And amidst all these, Saqib has also commented on the India pacer. He posted a clip on his Facebook page where he could be seen having some fun at Arshdeep’s expense.
“What a match, cricket at its peak. Pakistani and Indian fans witnessed a tremendous match. Pakistan defeated India by 5 wickets. Last week, India had defeated Pakistan by 5 wickets. Last year, we had defeated them by 10 wickets,” said Saqib.
“Babar Azam could not perform but it’s fine. But we now know that our team is not dependent on one person. Salute to Mohammad Rizwan’s consistency,” he added.
He then started talking about Arshdeep Singh, saying: “But the most important thing right now, the most important conversation that I want to have is not with the Pakistanis but with a person from South Asia.
“Arshdeep is our brother. Arshdeep is our life. No body will talk anything against Arshdeep on social media. It happens. I can take that catch with three fingers but sometimes, a person fails to do the most easiest of tasks. Arshdeep you are our life. Whatever has happened, has happened for good. Keep doing it,” he added.
