India National Cricket Team have suffered a huge blow as star spin-bowling all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been ruled out of the ongoing Asia Cup 2022, which is the 15th edition of the multi-nation tournament.
On Friday, September 2, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) issued an official statement in which it was asserted that the star all-rounder has sustained a right knee injury and he will no longer be available for selection in the marquee tournament. The BCCI further stated that Jadeja is “currently under the supervision of the BCCI medical team”.
“Ravindra Jadeja has sustained a right knee injury and is ruled out of the tournament. He is currently under the supervision of the BCCI medical team,” on Friday, September 2, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said in an official media release.
Jadeja has been facing knee injury issues for a while now. Recently, he missed the ODI games against West Indies National Cricket Team due to his right knee injury.
Meanwhile, the 33-year-old all-rounder played a key role in India’s recent 5-wicket win over arch-rivals Pakistan National Cricket Team. He was India’s joint-highest run-getter in the match against Pakistan with 35 runs in his bag and with the ball he gave away just 11 runs in 2 overs. In India’s 40-run win over Hong Kong National Cricket Team, Jadeja gave away just 15 runs in his 4 overs quota and he bagged one wicket.
The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named Axar Patel as the replacement for Ravindra Jadeja – BCCI
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has named star spin-bowling all-rounder Axar Patel as Jadeja’s replacement in the Asia Cup squad. Axar, who was earlier named as the stand-by player along with Shreyas Iyer and Deepak Chahar, will soon join the Indian squad in Dubai.
“The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named Axar Patel as the replacement for Ravindra Jadeja in the ongoing Asia Cup,” BCCI stated.
“Axar Patel was earlier named as one of the standbys in the squad and will join the team in Dubai soon,” BCCI added.
