India is the most successful team in the tournament. India has won the Asia Cup title 7 times. Sri Lanka has won the tournament 5 times. The last edition of the tournament took place in 2018. Asia Cup 2018 was played in the ODI format. In the final, India defeated Bangladesh by 3 wickets to win the title. Hence, India is the defending champions of Asia Cup 2022.

The exact schedule for Asia Cup 2022 is yet to be announced by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). However, the tournament is set to begin on August 27 with the opening game. The final will take place on September 11. A total of 13 matches are set to take place during the tournament.

Asia Cup 2022 will feature 6 teams. Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan are the five confirmed teams that will be part of the tournament. One more team will join the tournament after the qualifier round.

UAE, Kuwait, Singapore, and Hong Kong are the 4 teams that will battle against each other in the qualifier round. One team will get a place as the 6th team in Asia Cup 2022.

All the teams are yet to announce their squads for the tournament. All the teams part of Asia Cup 2022 are already busy with bilateral tournaments currently. Hence, they will announce the squads ahead of the tournament in August.

Since Sri Lanka is set to host the tournament, venues like R.Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Pallekele, Galle International Stadium in Galle, Dambulla International Stadium, and Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium will be among the venues that will host all the games. All these stadiums are good scoring grounds as well as spin-friendly.
