Team India easily defeated Hong Kong on August 31 to advance to the Asia Cup 2022 Super Four Stage. However, former Pakistan leg-spinner Danish Kaneria is worried about their bowling assault.
Kaneria criticized the methods used by Avesh Khan and Arshdeep Singh, who gave runs against Hong Kong. With only three pacers in the team, the former leg-spinner believes Bhuvneshwar Kumar carries a large portion of the load in terms of fast bowling.
Danish Kaneria also discussed in a video posted on his YouTube channel why he believes Ravi Bishnoi should replace Yuzvendra Chahal as the team’s leg-spinner. He stated:
“India’s bowling is becoming increasingly problematic. The entire burden falls on Bhuvneshwar if Arshdeep and Avesh Khan both attempt numerous runs.”
“Chahal has also struggled to use his abilities. Replace him with Bishnoi if he is unable to bowl with enough leg spin. He is swift in the air and will be helpful on such tracks.”
Danish Kaneria believes India may replace Hardik Pandya with Deepak Hooda:
Danish Kaneria objected to the strategy used by Team India to field Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik against Hong Kong. The former Pakistani player believed that both individuals were vying for the same position and that the team management needed to be clear about their preferences.
“In the run-up to the T20 World Cup, you also need to control Hardik’s workload. Back Pant or Dinesh Karthik is your choice, but be steadfast about it. To have that variety in bowling, I would unquestionably play Hooda if I were to rest Hardik.”
The following Asia Cup game involving India will take place at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday, September 4. On Friday, they will compete against the winner of the match between Pakistan and Hong Kong (September 2).
