Star Afghanistan National Cricket Team leg-spinner Rashid Khan has said that he really enjoys bowling to the modern-day batting greats like Virat Kohli, Kane Williamson and Babar Azam.
Rashid will be seen in action in the opening clash of the Asia Cup 2022, which is the 15th edition of the tournament. The tournament opener will be played between Sri Lanka and Afghanistan on August 27 in UAE.
Speaking on Sawera Pasha’s YouTube channel on Wednesday, Rashid said that a bowler gets extra motivation when bowling to world-class batters. He added that the players like Kohli, Williamson and Babar give bowlers a tough time. He said:
“As a bowler, you always wait for an opportunity to bowl to a world-class batters. You get extra motivation when you bowl to those players. I really enjoy bowling to the likes of Babar Azam, Virat Kohli and Kane Williamson. They give you a tough time and don’t let you relax.”

While talking about the dew factor that became the match deciding factor during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 in UAE. The 23-year-old said that the Afghanistan players haven’t found too much dew even during the late-night practice sessions. Rashid said:
“Players from our squad have practiced at late nights too, and they haven’t found much dew at the venue. I hope that it remains the same during the matches too, as being a spinner, you don’t want dew to be there because it makes a lot of difference. I hope the contest is fair for everyone.”
Notably, the Asia Cup tournament was originally set to be played in Sri Lanka, but was shifted to United Arab Emirates (UAE) due to the economic and political crisis in the country. The matches of the tournament will be played across two venues, including Dubai International Stadium and Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
