Asia Cup 2022: “They Have Got So Many Options And Combinations Going” – Salman Butt Applauds Bench Strength Of Team India

Former Pakistan National Cricket Team skipper Salman Butt showered praise on the bench strength of the India National Cricket Team, saying that Team India “have got so many options and combinations going”.

In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Salman Butt said that the rotation policy has become a normal practice for the India National Cricket Team as they give proper rest to senior players and youngsters are given more opportunities to gain experience at the international level.

He further said that fielding the best possible combination becomes difficult for the side with several good players in the team, but admitted that having bench strength is important for a team. Salman Butt elaborated:

“I think the rotation policy has become a normal practice for the Indian team because they don’t play with the same players in every series. They give rest to senior players, provide more opportunities to the youngsters and keep changing the team.

“They have got so many options and combinations going. It becomes a difficult choice at times but having a bench strength is healthy for competitions.

“Now they are going ahead with NCA staff. Head VVS Laxman will coach the team in Zimbabwe. So, [Rahul] Dravid, the head coach, is also getting rest. Human development is taking place in the Indian cricket team with increasing human resources, which is fantastic. In future, they can expand it like the IPL.”

Former Pakistan National Cricket Team captain further said that Team India would want modern-day batting great Virat Kohli to gain back his form ahead of the high-profile clash against arch-rivals Pakistan National Cricket Team in the Asia Cup 2022 in Dubai on August 28. He asserted:

“In his [Virat Kohli] case, with his experience and ability, India will be looking to get him back in form as soon as possible. We have seen several players return to form against Pakistan. If he comes back to form, he will surely trouble Pakistan.”
