Sri Lanka is one of the six teams to play in the Asia Cup 2022. The schedule was announced on Tuesday, July 3 by Asian Cricket Council chief Jay Shah on Twitter. The Lankans play Afghanistan on September 27 to kick off the campaign. India and Pakistan then play on August 28 in one of the most anticipated clashes in this campaign. 

India are the defending champions of the tournament. India won the previous edition of the Asia Cup in 2018 by defeating Bangladesh in the final. India has also won the most 7 titles out of 12 Asia Cup tournaments. Sri Lanka has won 5 titles while Pakistan accounts for 2 titles.

All the top teams of Asia are part of the Asia Cup 2022. 6 teams will participate in the tournament. They are India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan. One more team will qualify for the tournament after the qualifier round. 4 teams namely Hong Kong, Kuwait, Singapore and UAE will battle against each other in the qualifier round. Meanwhile, in this article, we will take a look at Sri Lanka’s schedule in the campaign.

Sri Lanka are part of group B alongside Bangladesh and Afghanistan. India, Pakistan and one of the qualifiers will be forming group A. Top two teams from each group will make it to the Super 4 which starts from September 3. 

Sri Lanka plays Afghanistan in their very first game of the campaign on September 27 in Dubai. They then play Bangladesh on September 1 in Sharjah just two days ahead of the Super 4 stage. Only two teams out of Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan will make it to the Super 4 from group B.

Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh – September 1, Sharjah – 7.30 pm
