Rohit Sharma’s India National Cricket Team lost by 6 WICKETS against Dasun Shanaka’s Sri Lanka National Cricket Team in the 3rd match of the Asia Cup 2022 Super 4 stage at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday, September 6. Now, India will have to depend on the results of the other team to qualify for the final of the marquee tournament.

The Men In Blue had lost their Super 4 round opener against arch-rivals Pakistan National Cricket Team by 5 wickets after failing to defend the target of 182 runs on Sunday, September 4, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Upcoming Asia Cup 2022 Games:

Pakistan vs Afghanistan in Dubai on September 7, Wednesday

India vs Afghanistan in Dubai on September 8, Thursday

Sri Lanka vs Pakistan in Dubai on September 9, Friday

Final on September 11, Sunday in Dubai

After facing the defeat against the Lankan Lions, the Men In Blue will now have to wait for other match results of the tournament to go their way to enter the final.

First of all, India would want Afghanistan National Cricket Team to beat Pakistan National Cricket Team on Wednesday. Then, India will have to register a dominant win over Afghanistan on Thursday by a huge margin to make sure that they have got a good Net Run Rate.

Also, India would want the Sri Lanka National Cricket Team to defeat Pakistan National Cricket Team in their final Super 4 stage game. This scenario will lead to Sri Lanka reaching the 6 points mark and India, Pakistan and Afghanistan having 2 points each. Net Run Rate will come into play to decide the tie-break and the team with the best NRR will qualify for the final.

However, if the Pakistan National Cricket Team registers a win over Afghanistan National Cricket Team on Wednesday, India will get knocked out of the tournament.

The Men In Blue were placed in group A of the Asia Cup alongside the Pakistan National Cricket Team and Hong Kong National Cricket Team. India registered consecutive wins in the group stage round and finished at the top spot in the rankings.

In the match against Babar Azam-led Pakistan on Sunday, August 28, the Rohit Sharma-led side registered a 5-wicket victory. India had won the toss in the match and opted to bowl first. The Indian bowling unit managed to restrict the Men In Green to 147.

Chasing the target, opener KL Rahul got out for a golden duck and skipper Rohit Sharma looked completely out of touch and was able to score just 12 runs. Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja contributed good 35 runs each. In the end, Hardik Pandya smashed brilliant 33 runs and finished off the match in style by smashing a six off Mohammad Nawaz’s delivery.

In the match against Nizakat Khan-led Hong Kong, Rohit Sharma and Co. registered a 40-run on Wednesday, August 31, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Losing the toss and batting first, Team India were able to post 192/2 on the board. Rohit Sharma scored a 13-ball 21 and his opening partner KL Rahul scored a poor 36 runs off 39 balls. Suryakumar Yadav played a sensational knock of 68 at a strike rate of 261.54 and his innings consisted of 6 fours and 6 sixes. Also, Virat Kohli scored good 59 runs off 44 balls, including 1 four and 3 sixes.
