India’s performance in the Asia Cup 2022 was quite underwhelming; they were eliminated from the Super Four stage of the tournament after two consecutive defeats to archrivals Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
Their bowling unit has taken a lot of heat for giving up a lot of runs just before the end. In fact, India has come under fire for sending only three of their top fast bowlers to the competition.
Young right arm pacer Avesh Khan actually had one of the worst bowling averages. In the first two group games, he only recorded one wicket, and after being diagnosed with a sickness, he was finally eliminated from the competition.

Wasim Akram Wants Indian Skipper To Have A Word With His Fast Bowlers
Wasim Akram, a former captain of Pakistan and renowned fast bowler, has claimed that Avesh Khan’s inability to bowl constantly at rates of above 140 mph makes the Indian attack inappropriate at this time.

“If I was Rohit Sharma, I will tell Avesh Khan that Avesh, I want you to bowl 140+, if you cannot bowl, please tell me. I don’t want any 135 line length bowlers,” he said in an interaction with Star Sports.
Akram continued by saying that choosing Avesh Khan would be pointless if he couldn’t bowl quickly. “His soul purpose is to bowl quick, and if he cannot do that what is the point of having him in the team. That’s why I want the skipper of India to have a word with his fast bowlers,” the pacer further added.

Wasim Akram questioned if Rohit Sharma and company could create a respectable bowling assault with only a few days left in the T20 World Cup because India’s bowling combination had not yet been decided. “My question is that how will you find, how will you replace bowlers, just 3-4 games before the World Cup?” the former Pak skipper asked.
