Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif made an unusual remark on four Team India players, claiming that they are departing considerably from the type of cricket that India batting legends Sachin Tendulkar and Sunil Gavaskar used to play in their prime.

Team India registered a 40-run victory in the Asia Cup 2022 match against Hong Kong to secure a place in the Super Four stage on Wednesday.

India scored a respectable total of 192/2 and held Hong Kong to 152/5 to secure their second victory in Group A and a direct qualification. The Super Four will consist of one team from Pakistan and Hong Kong, and that team will face Rohit Sharma’s group on Sunday of this week in the opening game of the second round.

Suryakumar Yadav, the team’s standout hitter, shone for India with a magnificent unbeaten performance of 68 off just 24 balls as he and Virat Kohli put together a fantastic 98-run partnership (who also scored a half-century). India needed to increase its run rate, and Suryakumar arrived just as the game entered its 13th over with the score at 94/2.

The former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif had an unusual comment to make about the batsman, as well as some of the other Indian middle-order hitters, including Rishabh Pant, Hardik Pandya, and Deepak Hooda, after Suryakumar’s stunning knock.

“The game has changed. There was a time when players used to follow Tendulkar, Sehwag, and Virat Kohli even. They would want to break their records. But in this team, there are 3-4 players who don’t follow their breed.”
