Young India National Cricket Team left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh’s coach Jaswant Rai has said that the youngster shouldn’t have been trolled for the dropped catch in the Asia Cup 2022 Super 4 game against Pakistan National Cricket Team on Sunday, September 4, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
During the 18th over of the Pakistan innings in the Super 4 India-Pakistan high-voltage clash, young pacer Arshdeep dropped a simple catch of Asif Ali. The Pakistan batter made most of the opportunity as he smashed 16 runs off 8 balls, including 2 fours and 1 six, before being dismissed by Arshdeep in the 20th over, to eventually help Pakistan win the match by 5 wickets.

After the match, the terrible side of social media trolls flared up and the young India pacer was abused heavily for the dropped catch. Also, many fans blamed him for India’s defeat.
Meanwhile, Singh’s coach Jaswant Rai urged fans to “watch the game with passion and not troll players”.
“I didn’t expect something like this. He shouldn’t have been trolled for the drop catch. It’s a part of the game and India still had the chance to win the match. Pakistani batters should be appreciated for the way they played. I request people to watch the game with passion and not troll players,” Rai was quoted as saying to India Today.

Rai further said that people in India are emotional about cricket, but making an issue of a dropped catch is completely wrong.
“People are emotional about cricket in India, especially when it’s about a high-voltage match against Pakistan. Winning and losing are part and parcels of a game. The same people praised Arshdeep after he got two wickets in the opening game. Making an issue of a drop catch is wrong,” he stated.
Rai was also confident that the young pacer would not get distracted by the trolling and would make a strong comeback in the next game.
“He is young and I don’t think he will get distracted by the trolling. He will come back stronger and will perform better in the next match,” he added.
