Former bowler RP Singh thinks Jasprit Bumrah and Shaheen Afridi’s continued fitness would have made the competition between India and Pakistan more competitive. The top fast bowling couple has been excluded from the competition because of individual injuries.

A back injury to Bumrah occurred around the end of India’s tour of England. Despite getting plenty of rest for the trip to the Caribbean and Zimbabwe, he was unable to get back in shape in time.

In a conversation with journalist Vimal Kumar, RP Singh expressed his opinion that both bowlers are essential to the team:

“Both Bumrah and Afridi contribute significantly to their teams. Bumrah is currently regarded as one of the top bowlers in both the nation and the entire world. He controls all three formats with a solid hand. Afridi is a talented player who also has pace and swing. The opposition would have been a little bit stronger had they been present” RP Singh said.

The effort to adjust the strategy to fit the demands of the modern game has undergone the biggest change during the Rohit Sharma-Rahul Dravid era, in addition to individuals.

RP Singh noted that there had to be a new template because cricket has changed significantly over the years.
