Former Pakistan fast bowler Aaqib Javed said India will be relaxed a bit for not countering any left-arm pacer in their upcoming clash against Pakistan.

India will start its Asia Cup title defence when they meet Babar Azam and his men at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday (August 28).

India eye on T20 World Cup sweet revenge

The Men in Blues will be keen to take revenge on their nemesis for the 10-wicket defeat in the T20 World Cup last year.

This match will give a clue for both teams before they lock horns in Melbourne on October 24 in the T20 World Cup 2022.

India’s woes against left-arm pacers are not hidden. Be it Mohammed Amir in 2017 Champions Trophy, Trent Boult in 2019 World Cup or Shaheen Afridi in 2021 T20 World Cup, time and again Indians have faltered in the early overs and it further resulted in complete batting failure in those games.

India are very relieved from the threat of left-arm pacer: Aaqib Javed

With Shaheen’s knee injury keeping him out of the Asia Cup 2022, Pakistan won’t have any left-arm quick in their ranks to trouble India’s top order.

“India are very relieved. What Amir did to them, what Shaheen did to them, that was their only threat. They will lose only when their top-order falls early. Because when Kohli arrives and the wickets have fallen early, him being out-of-form and under pressure would make it quite difficult for him,” Aaqib said during an interaction with Geo TV.

India and Pakistan are joined by Hong Kong in the Group A of Asia Cup 2022, the top two teams with the most points will qualify for the Super 4 stage.

Hosts Sri Lanka will take on Afghanistan in the curtain raiser game on Saturday at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Sri Lanka and Afghanistan will also play one match against Bangladesh in Group B to decide the top two teams for the Super 4 stage.
