Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president and former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly said India vs Pakistan is just another match.

India will start its Asia Cup title defence when they meet Babar Azam and his men at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday (August 28).

The Men in Blues will be keen to take revenge on their nemesis for the 10-wicket defeat in the T20 World Cup last year.

This match will give a clue for both teams before they lock horns in Melbourne on October 24 in the T20 World Cup 2022.

Ganguly, who played 12 Tests and 53 ODIs against Pakistan, feels that the match between India and Pakistan is a normal clash and Indian players understand how to deal with it.

India vs Pakistan match is just another match. For those who play regularly or when I used to play, I didn’t take Pakistan as any special match. In knockout matches, there is extra pressure. But nothing like that. Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and KL Rahul all are experienced players. They know how to handle the pressure. It’s not a big matter for them,” Ganguly told India Today.

India’s ace speedster Jasprit Bumrah and Pakistan bowling spearhead Shaheen Afridi will miss the encounter owing to their respective injuries.

Ganguly is of the opinion that a single player cannot make a difference to the whole team setup.

“I don’t think one player can make a difference or not. It’s teamwork,” he said.

Ganguly also trusted senior Indian player Virat Kohli, who is enduring a lean patch at the moment, to bounce back in the continental tournament.

Virat is a very big player. He has his own formula to make runs. He will make a comeback soon. We are all hopeful,” Ganguly said.
