IND vs PAK: Pakistan Have Been Constantly Debating About Mohammad Wasim Jr. And Shaheen Shah Afridi's Unavailability – Kamran Akmal

Veteran Pakistan National Cricket Team wicketkeeper-batsman Kamran Akmal has said that Pakistan have been constantly debating over Mohammad Wasim Jr. and Shaheen Shah Afridi’s absence from the Asia Cup 2022, which should stop now.

The 22-year-old premier Pakistan pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi will not be able to take part in the Asia Cup due to his right knee ligament injury, which he sustained while fielding during the first Test against Sri Lanka in Galle.

Along with Shaheen, who is expected to return to competitive cricket in October, Mohammad Wasim Jr. was ruled out of Asia Cup 2022 due to a side strain. PCB has included Mohammad Hasnain and Hasan Ali in the squad as replacements.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Akmal said that the Indians don’t debate over Jasprit Bumrah, Rohit Sharma or Virat Kohli when they are unavailable and Pakistan should learn from them. He said:

“When Bumrah, Kohli or Rohit (Sharma) are unavailable for a series, Indians do not discuss it. But Pakistan have been constantly debating about Shaheen and Mohammad Wasim Jr.

“This is a big team. The other bowlers in the side should take up the responsibility. They are a professional team after all. They have Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah as well among others.”

Akmal further said that India will be heading into the match against Pakistan with the bowling combination of two fast bowlers and two spinners along with Hardik Pandya as the third seam bowling option. He said:

“I feel they will go in with Hardik Pandya as the third pacer. They will go in with two fast bowlers and two spinners. Their spinners are match-winners, be it (Yuzvendra) Chahal, Ravindra Jadeja, (Ravichandran) Ashwin or Ravi Bishnoi. But they will be a bit confused after the first game, where fast bowlers were getting carry and swing.

“India’s batting line-up is in great form, but India have relied heavily upon Virat Kohli in big tournaments, so it remains to be seen how he performs. KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma are match-winners and class players. On paper, they are a big team, but it’s all about delivering on the day. I think it’s 50-50.”

Babar Azam-led Pakistan National Cricket Team is set to lock horns with Rohit Sharma-led India National Cricket Team in their Asia Cup 2022 opener on August 28 at the Dubai International Stadium.
