KL Rahul, the star Indian batter who is making a comeback after the injury had a forgettable outing against Pakistan. He was dismissed for a golden duck and due to his dismissal, the run chase of 148 runs looked steep. KL Rahul once again is finding reasons to get out just like his old times. He was given a chance to get game practice as the selectors had included him in the Zimbabwe tour, but he couldn’t make the most out of it.
Wasim Jaffer, the former Indian batter though feels that the batter’s form is not a worry. KL Rahul knows that he has the back of Rahul Dravid & Rohit Sharma. India won’t take a risk of opening with Virat Kohli as he is not quite to his best. India is bound to play Hong Kong on 31st August(Wednesday) and KL Rahul has a golden chance to stamp his authority against the opposition.
Wasim Jaffer on KL Rahul
Wasim Jaffer: “The way this team operates, we have been seeing it for the past year that the Indian team gives enough opportunities to every player. I personally don’t think we will see any changes. You will back the team you played against the big side. I don’t think one or two failures will make them drop KL Rahul or make any changes unless there’s an injury issue”.
“Wicket has pace and bounce so perhaps Avesh will retain his place as well, though I am a bit tempted to play Ravi Bishnoi.”. Wasim Jaffer added
KL Rahul has a chance to Reinvent Himself
There are “n” chances that India will qualify for the Super 4 stage. Hong Kong’s victory looks improbable as the Indian Cricket Team is at the top of its game. They will give India a sniff where KL Rahul would be tested as he is quite vulnerable in the initial stages. If KL Rahul sticks to the crease and plays around 20-odd balls then he would be unstoppable.
KL Rahul should just play his natural game and not think too much ahead. We often have seen that the batter makes silly mistakes which costs the match. KL Rahul would be wary of his past bad patch and would be hoping that he doesn’t get into the shell.
