Former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria has picked Pakistan’s playing XI for the mouth-watering clash against India. Both the teams will be seen in action against each other on August 28 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, where both India and Pakistan will be playing their maiden game of this year’s Asia Cup.
The last time these two teams were involved in a competitive game saw Pakistan cruise to victory by a.massive margin of 10 wickets in the group match of ICC T20 World Cup 2021. However, one of the key architects of that Pakistan win, Shaheen Shah Afridi, isn’t a part of Pakistan’s squad for Asia Cup 2022 as he was ruled out of the tournament a week ahead of the commencement of the tournament.
Danish Kaneria Picks Pakistan’s Playing XI vs India
Speaking exclusively in an interview with Cricketaddictor, Danish Kaneria said, “Mohammad Rizwan is a very talented and hard-working cricketer and he’s the backbone of Pakistan’s batting lineup alongside Babar Azam. Pakistan’s middle-order looks weak.”
Shoaib Malik’s Experience Should’ve Been Valued Like India Is Giving Value To Dinesh Karthik- Danish Kaneria
“Dinesh Karthik has been around ever since T20 cricket has come into place and now he’s been handed a specific role by the team management and Karthik is fulfilling that role to perfection. Similarly, Shoaib Malik is our senior player and we should have utilized him if he’s fit. Even in the T20 World Cup, we saw how he played an anchor role for Pakistan in a couple of games and held the fort from one end,” Danish Kaneria added.
“Pakistan’s middle order looks very weak and if you look at India’s bowling lineup, especially the spinners, you should have had an experienced player like Shoaib Malik. Pakistan has made a huge blunder by not keeping him in the side for Asia Cup 2022. I doubt if Asif Ali will play. Khushdil Shah should be in the XI because he can turn up to be an extra bowling option for the skipper.”
“After Khushdil, there is Shadab Khan and Mohammad Nawaz and if I have to go with three pacers, I will pick Mohammad Wasim Jnr, Haris Rauf and Shahnawaz Dahani because Dahani had done extremely well in the PSL in Dubai and India haven’t faced him yet,” Danish remarked.
