Senior Indian batter Virat Kohli opened his heart about the struggles he faced in recent times after the Pakistan game on Sunday in Dubai.

The former India captain mentioned MS Dhoni was the only former player who texted him after he stepped down from India’s Test captaincy in January this year.

Things were not easy for Kohli in the past few months as he was not amongst runs, had relinquished captaincy duties from all formats and people started reminding him about his 71st international hundred.

You can tell me directly: Virat Kohli

With each failure of Kohli, people started questioning about his place in the T20 World Cup squad. Some asked him to take a break from the game. When the senior Indian player missed the tours of West Indies and Zimbabwe, some said that only playing would allow his form to return.

“If I have to say something about somebody I will reach out to them individually, even if I want to help somebody if you give your suggestion in front of the world. It has no value to me because if it is for me, for my improvement, you can very well tell me one on one,” Kohli said in the post-match press conference.

“Somehow I live my life honestly, and I am able to see all this. Not to say that it does not affect me, but you see the truth when you have played for this long and with honesty, it is all to the almighty,” he elaborated.

Virat Kohli scored 60 vs Pakistan

The star batter made a 44-ball 60 against Pakistan which was his third consecutive 30+ score in the Asia Cup and showed some glimpses of Vintage Kohli.

Virat’s bold statement is crucial with context to what has happened in the past one and a half years while he was batting the tough phase alone.

Earlier this year Virat decided to quit the Test and T2O captaincy and the BCCI unceremoniously removed him from ODI captaincy.
