Sri Lanka Cricket Team silenced all the critics around the world by winning the Asia Cup 2022. The Island nation recorded its 6th Asia Cup title and the team was quite ruthless. Head Coach Chris Silverwood would be pleased after all their all hard work paid off. The official hosts of the tourney knocked over Pakistan in the final by 23 runs and showed to the world that they are not a finished product.

Sri Lanka found match-winners on a given day and wasn’t dependent on a single individual which made them a force to reckon with. Captain Dasun Shanaka showed great leadership skills and he was always the bowler’s captain. The skipper knows that his side needs to find a little bit more vigilant while attacking as they have a bad habit of losing wickets in quick succession.

Chris Silverwood was seen interacting with Broadcasters after the game. “Great thing is at any given point everybody puts their hands up. Just had to get a method. Had confidence in the talent in the team,” said Silverwood.

Came in with a very young seam attack — seeing them perform has been superb. It’s not right to pick one person out – it’s been a team effort,” he added.

The left-handed batter had a stern task on his hands as the team was in deep trouble at 58-5. It looked as if the team would get bundled out for less than 130 runs. The batter formed a partnership with Wanindu Hasaranga and the duo slowly & steadily started making inroads. The batters made sure to get an odd boundary which relieved the pressure.

Rajapaksa scored an unbeaten 71 runs and was looking in sublime touch. Sri Lanka somehow took the total to 170 runs which were quite good given their early wobble. Hasaranga played a 30-odd run cameo due to which there was no added pressure on Rajapaksa. Sri Lanka’s lower middle order proved to be too hot to handle for Pakistani bowlers.
