Pakistan and Sri Lanka will meet in the Asia Cup 2022 final on Sunday, September 11. This match will be played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. While Sri Lanka will try to win the Asia Cup title for the sixth time, Pakistan will try to lift the trophy for the third time.

Sri Lanka won the Super-Four match against Pakistan in a spectacular manner two days ago. The victory lifted the spirits of the Sri Lankan players. The toss will be a crucial factor in the final match, and both teams would like to bowl first.

Excited To Play Final Against Pakistan – Dasun Shanaka

Sri Lanka has recovered from a disastrous start to its campaign, defeating India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan in the Super 4 rounds of the competition.

Ahead of the Asia Cup 2022 final, Sri Lankan captain, Dasun Shanaka said his team is excited to play in the final match against Pakistan and it will be one of their best Asia Cup outings.

“As a team, we are very excited to play the final and Pakistan are a very good team. All matches have been nail-biters and we are looking forward to the final,” Shanaka said.

“As a tournament, looking back, this has been one of the best Asia Cups we have had and we are looking forward to the final,” he further added.

Sri Lanka got off to a poor start to their Asia Cup 2022 campaign with a loss to Afghanistan in their opening encounter. Dasun Shanaka’s side beat Bangladesh by two wickets in a thrilling match to qualify for the Super Four stage of the tournament.

Sri Lanka performed well in the Super 4 phase and won all three matches. They started with a four-wicket victory against Afghanistan. They beat India by six wickets in a last-over finish. In their final Super Four phase match, They defeated Pakistan by five wickets.

The ongoing Asia Cup was supposed to be held in Sri Lanka, but the country’s political and economic crisis forced the tournament to be moved to the UAE.

With the T20 World Cup less than a month away, Sri Lanka will take confidence from their performance in the Asia Cup as they managed to reach the final without much success before.
