Sri Lanka take on Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2022 final in Dubai on September 11. Both the teams defeated India and Afghanistan in the Super 4 stage to reach the final. The Lankans also defeated Pakistan in the last Super 4 game which was a perfect dress rehearsal ahead of the final. The Lankans registered a 5-wicket win which will act as a boost for the side ahead of the final on Sunday.

The Lankans chased down scores of over 170 thrice in the tournament so far. They successfully chased down 174 to win against India in what was another close contest. Skipper Dasun Shanaka was the Man Of the Match for his unbeaten 33 off 18 balls. He also took two key wickets that of Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya to stem the flow of runs in the middle overs.

“The environment in the team set the tone. It is what gave us the confidence. The batting unit won it for us. The bowlers bowled well in patches, Dilshan and Theekshana in particular. The Indian batsmen came hard, but we did well to keep them to 173. We had a good dicussion after the first game. We know what we can do in this tournament” said Shanaka after the win against India.

The side is peaking at the right time and should head to the final with their noses ahead especially after beating Pakistan in the Super 4 game.
