The day for the much-awaited India vs Pakistan (IND vs PAK) clash in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 has finally arrived. The arch-rivals are all set to resume their famous rivalry today when they lock horns in the third game of the tournament at the Pallekele International Stadium in Pallekele.

Pakistan have already opened their campaign in the competition by taking on Nepal in the tournament-opener earlier this week. The Babar Azam-led side proved their title credentials by blowing away Nepal. Riding on centuries from their skipper and Iftikhar Ahmed, Pakistan posted a mammoth total of 342/6 before bowling out Nepal for 104 to register a huge win of 238 runs.

India, on the other hand, are yet to play a game in the Asia Cup 2023 and will be looking to get their campaign underway with a win. A win against Pakistan will all but seal India’s passage to the Super 4. And with so much at stake, another fiery India vs Pakistan contest is expected by the fans.

But as the cricketing world is eagerly waiting for the match to take place, rain could play spoilsport. The weather forecast for the match is not at all promising. History favours Men in Blue in India vs Pakistan clash:

While Pakistan might be slight favourites because of their present form, history is in India’s favour. India have traditionally dominated Pakistan in the big games. The upcoming game will be the 14th India vs Pakistan game in Asia Cup.

India have won seven of the 13 games while Pakistan have ended up on the winning side on five occasions while one game ended in no-result. When the last ODI Asia Cup took place in 2018, India had thoroughly dominated Pakistan and had won both the games. They first thrashed the Men in Green by 8 wickets in the group stage before inflicting a 9-wicket defeat in the Super 4.
