IND vs AUS: “Not Easy Decision”– KL Rahul On Rishabh Pant vs Dinesh Karthik Selection Call For 1st T20I vs Australia

India National Cricket Team vice-captain KL Rahul has said that both Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik are high-quality players and the team management is facing a tough selection call between the wicketkeeper-batters.

Rohit Sharma-led India National Cricket Team are set to lock horns with Aaron Finch-led Australia National Cricket Team in the first match of the three-match T20I series at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali, Chandigarh on Tuesday, September 20.

Addressing the press on the eve of the first T20I, Rahul said that the inclusion of Karthik or Pant in the playing XI will depend on the kind of combination India want to go with as well as the surface they are playing on.

“It again depends on the kind of combination you want to go with. It depends on the surface and the teams we are playing against. These are not easy decisions. Both are high-quality players and have been playing well. Both of them do different roles,” said Rahul in the pre-match press conference on the eve of the match.

“For us, the leadership group it is to see what role we need from players and whoever fits into role will be in the playing XI. Everyone in the team has defined roles and responsibilities. On that given day what we think the Indian team needs, the decision will based on that one.”

During the same press conference, Rahul revealed that he is in a good space since making his comeback from an injury.

“I am feeling good. It’s been a few games since I have come back after the injury. Getting that time in the middle was really important for me in the Asia Cup as well as in Zimbabwe. I am looking forward to the challenge against the Australian team at home; it’s been a while for me,” Rahul said.
