Glenn Maxwell of Australia got run out in a freaky way during the ongoing third T20I against India which is being played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad, Telangana. This was because Indian keeper Dinesh Karthik’s gloves had already dislodged one bail from the stumps as the ball arrived.
Indian captain Rohit Sharma continued winning the tosses and decided to bowl first in the deciding match of the series which is leveled 1-1. India made one change as they stuck with Bhuvneshwar Kumar in place of Rishabh Pant, who had played in the second match.
Australia made one change as well as Josh Inglis came in for Sean Abbott.
Cameron Green gave a dream start to Aussies hammering Bhuvneshwar Kumar for a six and a four in the first over itself and then treated Axar Patel a similar way in the second over. However, the worst was reserved for Jasprit Bumrah as he went for two consecutive sixes in his first over and one four at the hands of Green.
Meanwhile, Axar Patel got rid of captain Aaron Finch in his second over for 7 runs, but then the all-rounder hammered him for three fours. Bhuvneshwar Kumar had his number as he bowled short and wide and got him to hit one in the air, and was caught by Hardik Pandya. Green made 52 in 21 balls with 7 fours and 3 sixes to his name.
Glenn Maxwell Gets Run Out Thanks To A Direct Hit From Axar Patel
Glenn Maxwell was looking dangerous as he hit one-four to Axar Patel, but the left-arm spinner had his revenge, albeit as a fielder. In the 8th over, Maxwell swatted a short ball from Yuzvendra Chahal towards a short fine-leg and set off for a single.
However, with the fielder coming in quickly, Steve Smith denies the single and Maxwell tries to hurry back before the ball hit the stumps directly.
However, the replays from the side showed that keeper Dinesh Karthik’s gloves hit the stumps before the ball did and dislodged the bails. However, another reply from the front showed that the gloves dislodged only one bail and the other was done by the ball hitting the stumps.
The third umpire adjudged Maxwell run out much to the relief of Karthik and India captain Rohit Sharma.
