Rohit Sharma was retained as the Indian skipper across formats just before the new selection committee was formed. The BCCI gave him another opportunity to prove himself with the ODI World Cup at home. Under Rohit, India did not make it to the knockouts of the Asia Cup and the T20 World Cup.

He has led India just twice in Test matches winning both those matches. However, those two matches were against a weaker Lankan side in March 2022. Rohit’s real Test will be the upcoming Test series at home. If India loses the Test series, Rohit’s captaincy might be under threat and he might be forced into retirement from the format.
