According to a recently published report in TOI, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Indian team management have asked the curators to prepare pitches that ensure “good Test cricket” for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 between India and Australia.

The four Test matches between the world-class teams are set to be held in India across four different venues in February-March.

The Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Jamtha, Nagpur will host the first Test from February 9 to 13, and the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi will host the second Test from February 17 to 21.

The third Test will be played at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamsala from March 1 to 5 and the fourth Test will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad from March 9 to 13.

Spin-bowling is expected to play a major role in the Test series considering the subcontinent conditions and both teams have already started their preparations for the series.

The Aussies are currently involved in a four-day training camp at the KSCA Ground in Alur, where several local spinners were called to help them prepare, including a Ravichandran Ashwin-like spinner.

BCCI Asks Curators To Make Pitches That Ensure “Good Test Cricket” Over The Full Five Days – Sources

On Saturday, February 4, TOI published a report in which it was mentioned that the sources have told that the pitch curators of all four venues, where the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 will be played, have been asked by the BCCI to make pitches that ensure “good Test cricket” over the full five days.

“Sources have told TOI that curators across the four venues have been asked to go ahead and make pitches that ensure “good Test cricket” over the full five days,” as quoted by TOI.

Meanwhile, the Indian batters have been struggling a lot against spin-bowling in recent times and they might be in trouble if the rank turners are produced. Also, India will be without the services of Rishabh Pant, who was used as the counter-attacking option against spin.

Shreyas Iyer, who is also a good player of spin-bowling, is doubtful for the series opener. India have Suryakumar Yadav in the squad, who can play sweep shots very well, but it remains to be seen whether he will be handed the debut cap.

Also, in the absence of Pant, India will have to find the right balance in playing XI. Pant’s presence allowed India to play five bowlers in Test cricket, but in the absence, things could be different as the management is yet to be convinced that wicketkeeper-batter KS Bharat can bat in the top 6.
