Salman Butt, a former captain of Pakistan, thinks Suryakumar Yadav can carry over his sensational white-ball form into Test cricket.

Butt stated on his YouTube channel that Suryakumar has put in a lot of effort for many years in domestic cricket. He believed that the fluid batter might succeed in Tests with a few small adjustments to his approach.

Suryakumar Yadav Has A Lot Of Experience Playing Test Cricket: Salman Butt

The 38-year-old said that if Suryakumar can modify his approach to fit the demands of various sessions, he would be able to score huge runs. Butt clarified:

“Suryakumar Yadav has a lot of experience playing domestic cricket. I think he knows the longer format very well. He should be aware that he will have to adapt to red-ball cricket. You need to change your shot selection a bit, focusing on playing to your strengths.

“Time management is also a very important aspect. You need to make slight adjustments depending on the sessions. With his experience, he should be able to produce good results.”

During the forthcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Suryakumar may finally make his eagerly anticipated Test debut. On February 9, Nagpur will host the first of India and Australia’s four Test matches.

Notably, the top batter participated in two games for Mumbai during the current Ranji Trophy 2023 season. His batting prowess, amassing 233 runs in three innings at an average of 74.33, won him many admirers.

Salman Butt said that Suryakumar Yadav won’t have any trouble making the switch to red-ball cricket. He asserted that the right-handed hitter will benefit from his exceptional performance in limited-overs cricket in the traditional format as well.

Citing the Indian batter’s outstanding T20I record, he highlighted that the player has shown his value in international cricket. The previous speaker added:

“He is very high on confidence thanks to his tremendous form in white-ball cricket. That is going to help him when he plays Test matches. He has been playing first-class cricket for nearly a decade, which is quite good for a player of his ability.

“When someone performs in such a top-class fashion in international cricket, it means that surely is very intelligent and a quick thinker. I don’t think it will be very tough for him.”

The Men in Blue’s next three-match ODI series against New Zealand will include Suryakumar’s next outing. On January 18, the series will get underway in Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
