Former India player Robin Uthappa believes that the team needs a player like Jasprit Bumrah.

Premier pacer Bumrah is likely to return for the final two Border-Gavaskar Tests against Australia, which is fantastic news for Indian fans.

Bumrah has reportedly begun to bowl in the nets at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), where he is currently recovering, according to a report in The Times of India.

According to the report, the fast bowler might be selected for the final two Tests of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia if his back doesn’t bother him. It was reported that a source said: “Yes, Bumrah has started bowling in the nets. Let’s hope all goes well and he’s declared fit.”

The injury struggles of Jasprit Bumrah significantly reduced India’s chances of taking home two medals in 2022. He had been excluded from the Asia Cup out of caution for the T20 World Cup later in the year, but he wound up injuring himself before the main event.

India didn’t get to the championship game in either competition. In the T20 World Cup semifinals, Rohit Sharma’s team was knocked out after losing to England by a score of 10 wickets.

“Jasprit Bumrah playing IPL will give a message that he is fit”: Robin Uthappa

Bumrah has left off the team for the first two Test matches against Australia, but captain Rohit Sharma is optimistic that he will be able to make the team for the remaining games in the series.

Robin Uthappa spoke about Jasprit Bumrah and his recent injury struggles: “Bumrah must be in a place right now where he wants answers. He must be wondering – ‘what is actually going on with me? Why am I not recovering’? The NCA will have to give answers to that. There are huge and amazing rehab facilities. So, NCA will have to give answers to that as in what’s happening there, why aren’t physios able to get him ready?”

“I think he should definitely play the IPL. If he plays the entire IPL, it will give him huge confidence in not just himself, but also the team, players, viewers, and supporters ahead of the World Cup” Robin Uthappa said.

“Bumrah playing IPL will give a message that he is fit. We all know what a great bowler he has been, and how hardworking he has been to improve and get to where he is today. He is a high-quality bowler and we need to respect that. You need a player like him on the team” Robin Uthappa stated in an interview with TOI.

The final two Tests will take place over the first two weeks of March. Jasprit Bumrah was hurried into the T20 side during a home series against Australia last October–November to improve the team’s chances at the T20 World Cup, when he again broke down and was sidelined indefinitely.
